i like it except i wish the bottom was smooth

Very good tub; solid and sturdy. Very good value...
we renovated two bathrooms with this bath and it is a very good product especially for the price. there are certainly higher quality/enthusiast bathtubs out there, but if you're looking for a basic tub at a reasonable price, this was the right choice for us. we've had one for almost three years and it holds up very well. easy to clean and durable. this tub came in our fifth (multiple home) bathroom renovation; this product is much better than fiberglass tubs with thin skirts and so much better for the do-it-yourselfer than a cast iron tub. we put a very thin mortar bed under it while installing and didn't even feel the slightest "give"/bounce. both bathtubs squeaked a little the first month, but not after they really settled down. advantages: lightweight yet very solid feel. the box weighs just over 80 pounds. and I carried myself upstairs. we had no issues with the coloring despite the other reviews. (However, it will scratch/mark if you rub something metal or abrasive on it - like a titanium wedding ring when washing your little ones - we chose not to wash dogs for fear of scratching the bottom.) Pretty easy to use to install. we've used fiberglass tubs before and as I mentioned the skirts were thin and separated from the putty quite quickly along the bottom/front as they bowed with the slightest pressure. this tub feels like cast iron when installed and we had no issues with "bending". Cons: As it is stated on bath1, it is very difficult to tell if it is a right hand or left hand drain. I ordered the wrong one at first; the only way to find out (at the time of my order) is to use the model numbering system (which also includes the color code) so i had to check it on the standard usa website and apparently i was confused. also to the do-it-yourselfer the flange seems thicker in the corners than in the center so we had to increase the thickness of the dowel washer to make sure the backer plate was perpendicular to the corners but completely square from the center to the other angle. not the end of the world but a bit annoying and not mentioned at all in the instructions. and just a note for fellow DIY'ers: we have a 60" opening - exactly 60"! and this tub is just above - maybe a 1/8 maybe 3/16 (the way the back of the flange is done isn't quite consistent) so we had to shave some wiggle nubs on the inside of the drain - although this saved us from that to prevent clamping that end. all in all I would recommend this bath and would use it again. no bells and whistles but a very good basic tub.

Can't believe I bought a bathtub on Bath1......
need a very specific model and color. local hardware stores had weeks of backorders. Ordering here saved me about three weeks. was unreliable but came as promised and was able to follow him on an expedition truck. i actually arrived a few days earlier than expected and with a phone call to the local shipping depot they got it to my house earlier. was strange to buy on bath1 but i must say it worked fine. the tub is the exact model we needed, arrived without damage and delivery was smooth.

An affordable tub with limitations..
in my experience, american standard fairings are dimensionally stable and easier to install. they are not warped like cheaper tubs which can be a nightmare to install. the tub will be shipped in good condition even if i haven't installed it yet. the bottom of the bath has an insulating coating and a flat bottom. it is a firm bath and not too heavy. however, according to the manufacturer, you should be careful when cleaning the tub. maybe it's the thin layer of glaze they put on it, but you can't use abrasives to clean this tub. i don't like this feature at all and would pay the extra cost for a more durable coating.

Integrated drain increases the value..
very nice bath easy to install. the built-in drain saves money and the risk of leakage. plus, the built-in drain eliminates the risk of overflow seal failure - virtually impossible to change once the walls are closed/finished.

Integral vent/overflow..
the tub could have been better protected before shipping and arrived with a few minor scratches. it doesn't matter because the shower curtain covers it and it's near the toilet. the cockpit itself had a nice shiny appearance, but the american stand was poorly finished. a bit of cleaning was especially needed and the back. the bath comes complete with the vent/overflow cover and the drain fitting and plug. the overflow is like on a sink an integral vent / overflow. it was very impressive to stop and fill the tub while keeping the level at full water volume. when draining it was amazing how fast the tub drained. so far very happy. (still under construction)
