i bought this to match the american standard extra deep tub i ordered. it was expensive. after my plumber came to install the tub, he said it wasn't necessary and instead used a standard plumbing part from the hardware store that cost only $20.

I just finished installing this drain on the tub and then ran a lot of water to check for leaks. the rubber gasket under the tub leaked quickly, I covered it with silicone and it stopped (for now). I plan to install a small door on hinges so I can peek under the tub every now and then as I'm not sure it won't leak anymore.

the drain leaks and leaks slowly after pushing down. I expected more from the American standard.

i had called american standard with questions about our tub and when she discussed the deep soggy drain she said the linen was the color of our tub. i am so glad i ordered it. it fits beautifully with the drain and the drain is a pop-up drain. just push to close it, then another push opens it. love!

we had previously bought the plastic version of this and the difficult installation process (yes, that's true and it literally took 3 hours of wrestling) damaged the plastic unit. I jumped on the copper and in literally three minutes it was in - luckily split! worth more than the price!

during installation we ran into the same problem with the tub draining while closed which many have expressed issues with. i contacted american standard and they immediately sent a new toe valve drain part with no questions asked. I found out when replacing and after concluding that the gasket had been installed incorrectly by the contractor. he had put it on the top part instead of the white feather part. with the help of customer service i was able to install it correctly and it works fine now. the instructions are missing so that was probably the original problem so the note will be updated if there is a problem as some have pointed out.
