April 2015 update: after four years of use, one of cadet-3's toilets started to fill by itself every half hour. i tried a few adjustments to adjust the height of the bob but when i realized it was due to another issue i ordered a full replacement of the internal plastics. what was fantastic was that buying the exact parts bath1 american standard 738942-1010a cadet3 compact flush vlv 1.28gpf (green) and american standard 738565-409.0070a 12 inch high water control kit with 28% refill was very cheap and perfect suits. all done without a plumber. the leak was gone and the cost was less than if my local plumber came to look. to the original standards of our house. this pair of toilets was purchased for the following reasons: * water saving * flushing performance compared to alternatives * aesthetics * big discounts available through the water district (only available in the district if the toilet is on an authorized toilet shopping list so i recommend looking for discounts before purchase if it affects the product you buy) * the balance of positive reviews (even with a few negative experiences) all objectives have been met. the single piece was more expensive in my opinion but better than the two piece alternatives. I hate extra seals and leak points. the toilets fill up very quickly because they use much less water. wish we had done the replacement years ago. local discounts made this purchase a great success at little cost. these two toilets did not appear. cleaning was much easier than the old ones being replaced. there is not much to do here except compliment this product. moreover, they were very easy to install. a great DIY project. the toilets arrived in perfect condition in boxes on pallets. I noticed a big change in water consumption at home as expected. this even happened with a few new flushes. it is not necessary as often as I thought to empty the bowl. I would have to describe it as rare.

Wow! this toilet does everything it says except clean itself! it's quiet, sucks a lot of material (you know what I'm talking about) and is very easy to clean. some people had issues with the cover which I was concerned about after reading the reviews. however, my husband and I are not small people and as long as you sit down carefully (not collapsing with all your body weight at once, which most blankets probably couldn't support anyway), we had no problems. i have a 4 year old. son so i like that the seat and lid close slowly. no way to secure anything by dropping the seat or lid when closing. we bought two to replace the horrible all in one toilet we had. so now, after a year, the toilet is still working great! we also saved about $30 a month on our water bill, meaning this toilet will pay for itself in a few years. excellent toilet! we highly recommend it.

not quite what I expected. maybe it's because it's only a 1.28 gal toilet? the flushing action is different but disappointing - it flushes from the rim down (the amount isn't that great) and it also shoots a stream of water from the front of the "rectangular bowl" well at the same time (don't know what to call that opening ?) toward the back of the toilet, essentially pushing the contents of the bowl downward as the downward flow of water pushes down. old round bottom of the bowl design of push down then up the s hump then down. its just a different design. but with this 1.28 gal toilet you may need to flush twice. it depends on the type of toilet food you ate and how the stool sticks to the bowl (sorry for trying to be tricky). s with this glazing that is always clean, the second rinse always seems to clean everything. maybe the 1.6 liter toilets have that more dynamic flushing action we've seen in TV commercials - more water? but many buildings only allow tenants (apartments/cooperatives) to install 1.28 gal toilets. heck, we're stuck with 1.28 until we get our own detached house or duplex...it's still weird to see this different flush action from the 2 water action points. so due to the disappointing rinsing effect and beautiful glaze, I have come to a 3 star rating. pros: very quiet - when flushing and refilling the tank (no gargling or hissing or anything - maybe from other complaints I've read that it's due to the way their units are installed?) - and I'm very noisy, fast tank filling always clean glass - significantly less cleaning slow close toilet seat low profile height (nice) easy installation (but I asked people in the building to do it) cons: slow close toilet seat - for me it's a bit flimsy I like the thicker seats better - go back to my previous seat which is great and give this to my wife (she likes it)

it was $269.00 plus $55.00 for home depot delivery. it was $269.00 with bath1 free shipping. hard decision but i went with bath1. I have a toto toilet. i have the american champion 4. both were much more expensive and i like this caddy 3 better. everything goes down. the toto lever broke 3 times and the valve had to be replaced twice. i had to call a plumber to change the champion 4 valve gear (not just a single valve). when the plumber fixed my champion 4 he said he liked cadet 3 more simple old technology is still good. i wish we could buy the old american standard 3.5 toilet. not only do everything fall apart, but they keep your mains clean and clear. I already had to call a plumber to hose my mains.

my daughter and i installed this toilet. it's a tough beast, but we made it. loved the fact that it is one piece - no tank to attach. newer styles of toilets continue to use less and less water (not always a plus), but it flushes well and quickly with more of a big gulping sound at first and then fills up quickly. the plus side of less water is the smaller tank. although this toilet seat is bigger than my old one, it generally seems to take up a lot less space which was a big factor in selecting this particular model. my bathroom is very small and it works wonderfully. Kudos to Amazon for excellent home delivery. i was apprehensive about ordering a toilet online after seeing pictures online of several shops showing accidents and broken parts but this was packed exceptionally well. at the moment I have no complaints other than the seat which seems a bit cheap but the slow closing is a nice feature. I will not hesitate to buy this toilet again.
