Accidents will happen especially with children...
because the front of the seat is open, urine can leak from the dirty toilet and stain the floor. this would greatly improve the use of these products by adding a solid front "wall" that attaches to the security extensions. I sketched a rough facsimile of what should work. this should be relatively easy to do and, if built, be able to strengthen the seat. to be fair, although this chair is already sturdy. leaking urine has so far been just an annoying and repetitive problem.

Really helps my 83 year old mother..
I bought it to replace a broken chair at my mom's. because my mom was 83 and was moving slowly after hip replacement surgery, she said she wanted me to find her a raised toilet seat so she could stand up more easily. this one is really sturdy and she said it helped a lot. I would have liked better instructions on how the base fits, but it's still a bit explanatory. if you have someone who needs a little help getting up, those extra inches seem to work. at least for my mother.

like it..
this toilet seat was exactly what i was looking for. knee problems make it difficult for me to get up from a sitting position and it works perfectly. I'm about 5'4'' maybe a little shorter and it works for me. my daughter did it for me and she had no problems. the only thing i really dislike is that the seat is not comfortable due to the sharp edge line around the outside of the seat. why the hell would a company do that i have no idea as a smooth rounded edge would have been so much more comfortable. it is certainly not a chair you take your time in. it seems very sturdy and I like that. if it weren't for the seat edges issue, I'd say it's perfect for anyone who has trouble getting up from the toilet.

A 9/16" wrench was the secret to getting things tight...
the installation went pretty well. I only dropped one side of the bolt assembly into the socket once and after my husband brought the right tool to tighten it, it was quite sturdy :) it's a big help after hip surgery. looks more like a regular chest of drawers than other options and most people wouldn't find it difficult to use it.

Easy Solution..
I finally managed to install it but forgot to attach the cover from the start. I decided not to put the cover on anyway, so I left it installed without the cover. seems solid. you will need a 9/16" wrench or adjustable wrench to tighten the 2 nuts. I never figured out how to install it from the included instructions but my end result was guessable. this cost my standard 15" tall toilet to one that I can actually get out of (bad knee) much easier. took me about 20 minutes to install it myself (had to go get the right size wrench). if I had known from the start I needed the wrench I could have easily measured to see what size I needed rather than blindly trying different ones. installation time would have been 10 minutes.
