This is the tub to buy!..
when renovating my bathroom I wanted to replace an old cast iron tub from the 70's with something wider, safer and more comfortable. my alcove accepts a standard 60 inch tub but had a little extra room for a wider version so this tub fit the bill. my contractor installed it according to the instructions in the documents. sound. it looks like cast iron but is a bit lighter. it retains heat better than my old bathtub. it's as quiet as my old bath, it's even muffled like cast iron. non slip surface (bottom only) is much safer than my old tub (which was smooth) although a little harder to clean it has a sandpaper texture but is not hard on feet the rest of the tub is silky smooth and wipes clean after each use with a damp towel. i have now used it at least a dozen times nt if not more wipe it down quickly with no smearing or foam build up. I appreciate the extra water depth of this model. I am a middle aged adult (ie: not skinny) and this bath provides deep relaxation, so take a full body bath. the backrest is rounder, smoother and more comfortable than my old bathtub. you can just lie in this tub and practically fall asleep. drawbacks are rare. (1) it takes longer to fill. duh it holds more water than a standard bathtub. make sure your hot water supply can provide at least 30 gallons of hot water when mixed until warm. (2) it scratches and flakes a little easier than my old cast iron tub. my contractor left two small marks, one is a tiny chip the size of a pencil point and the other is a 1/2" scratch. possibly from dropped tools or something barely noticeable unless i point it out. he doesn't know how either it's done i am i no problem so far they are not rusted i plan to contact american standard for a repair kit it seems no modern tub is made with the same indestructible coatings as older cast iron tubs.but it seems durable enough for everyday use don't let the tools, tiles or metal parts fall into the tub during installation.don't sit on ledges with tools in your back pocket etc.american standard.I'm happy with mine.home delivery via bath1 was great they dropped it off just outside my driveway they even r tested as i opened the whole tub and inspected with a flashlight in case there was any shipping damage or major defects. mine came in 100% good condition. the box was not damaged at all. however keep in mind that the tub inside was a bit dirty which made it more difficult to inspect after opening the till. have a dry cloth handy to wipe off any dirt that might otherwise look like chips or scratches, and let them stay while you check quickly. Refusing delivery due to damage is much easier than having to send something large back later. I hope this review helps someone.

I am a home builder and have used many of .....
I am a home builder and have used several of these tubs and installed them in my own home. very heavy and sturdy without the cold surface like cast iron or marble.

Recommend this tub if you want deeper and doesn't feel cheap..
love this bath. all the other tubs I looked at were plastic and cheap, but cost more. it looks like old metal tubs, but is deeper. the installer had no problem installing himself as the weight was much lighter than cast iron tubs. the water will certainly stay warmer for longer. my only wish would be that the american standard would move those of us who like to soak a few inches more the overflow a little more. I don't know why it has to be so low when others bring them closer to the top.

Great bathtub compromise..
very happy with this bath! I had it installed by a contractor so can't comment on ease of installation, but haven't heard any complaints. I originally wanted a cast iron tub because I don't like the hollow sound and floppy feel that acrylic tubs seem to be. but this is for a second floor bathroom and they were all so heavy and hard to install. so I searched and found some really good reviews for this one. it is heavier than acrylic but much lighter than cast iron. but when you step in the bath, you don't know. it has a really nice solid feel (and sound). it is quite deep and slopes well towards the drain. I'm 5'9" (with 32" pants) and could comfortably sit in the tub with a few extra inches so I think it could comfortably accommodate a six foot. I also like that the front wall isn't super thick (think it's called the apron; the part you have to climb on to get in). it is less risk of falling.

Love this tub!!!..
i love this bath! we renovated our 50 year old bathroom. the old tank was made of enameled cast iron. it had been cleaned so many times that the finish was worn and even after cleaning it still looked dirty. this tub is deep, perfect for a bath and so easy to clean!!!! I would definitely buy it again
