Best ever..
ok, this is an above average installation challenge, but the result is well worth the extra effort. read the instructions 3 times and make sure you have the right bolts in the right place the first time as it gets tricky once they are screwed in. #1 the top is designed to be useful! I've had so many sideboards with rounded tops over the years. what a waste of good space. it is flat and has a raised edge. lovely. #2 Flat sides prevent dirt build-up. it is one of the most unpleasant and difficult places in a bathroom to clean. the typical visible drain design provides excellent places for dust and, combined with the humidity of a bathroom, is just a recipe for a lot of cleaning. this is not the case with straight sides. nowhere to hide dust (except inside where I can't see it so who cares). #3 I managed to quit about 3 times in 6 months. my fault for a big prop tp. #4 the flush is fast, powerful, cleans the bowl and is just great and efficient. I want to show all the guests in my house, but my wife looks at me with a frown as she rinses a huge load in front of them. my dad always told me to keep the coins...if you know what that means you'll love never having to tell your kids that again. you won't be disappointed with the sleek design, quick flush and refill and overall great design of this sideboard. if you can afford it, look no further.

Save your aggravation hire a good plumber to install & you'll be happy!..
my plumber thought this toilet would be harder but he and his son did it in 30 minutes. this thing has been in constant use for 2 months now and it looks brand new. it clears up a bit on its own. I am disabled and can no longer manage to clean the usual mud just outside a regular toilet. I just use a broom and a clean cloth and slide it around the base - super easy! the rinse is powerful but seems economical. we love this toilet and plan to install 2 more later this year. they will replace toilets that are less than 10 years old but perform poorly, regardless of their original replacement cost.

Why 3 Stars For a Great Toilet..
to explain 3 stars as we actually love this toilet - now that it is fully installed and in use. first the positive: the toilet literally cleans itself. if someone has a particularly sticky drain and doesn't have time to clean the bowl on the spot, don't worry, because shortly after the mess is peeled off the porcelain and the particles are left on the bottom of the bowl for easy rinsing, also like the soft-close seat and lid, which are easy on the nerves and less likely to cause toilet accidents than a regular lid that falls and slams shut. and we like the seamless exterior that has smooth faces and no curved pipe contours to trap the dust and grime that a regular toilet does. and now for the negative and the reason why we can't give this toilet a full 5 stars or even 4 : the installation was a bit of a nightmare for several reasons : access to the bolts to screw on the toilet is very narrow and difficult to deal with and the standard american instructions for installation are so misleading and the supposed technical expert the customer should contact is a little old lady who doesn't know the difference between the terms "flush" (meaning flat in surface planes) and "level" " (meaning adapted to a uniform height). pictures of the toilet siphon and floor show it at least 20cm above the floor surface but paul had it installed even closer to the floor with a difference of less than 16cm... and although the floor, trap and toilet were flush with the floor and the siphon was not exactly aligned with each other as they were not shown as aligned in the diagrams and they just had to be level. now the terms can be used interchangeably, but the misleading scheme left this wide open to interpretation - which we believe is a mistake on the part of the company and forced a nearly 60-year-old man to install a heavy toilet twice and discover that it has fallen over (not the modern common sense of that word) and needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled. and the US standard rep (non-techspert) we spoke to about the whole thing didn't care a bit about the problems we had due to faulty schematics in the directions. his whole attitude was that that's why you spend the money to have your toilet installed by a professional. but see that it is not his money and therefore not his decision. and if we wanted to spend a lot of money - and have to spend it - we wouldn't have bought our toilet from bath1, we would have gone to lowe's and bought it there and one of their mechanics or a local plumber had our toilets. so the reason for 3 stars for some kind of great toilet is because of the treatment we got from american standard and the knowledge that if we ever have a problem with the toilet we wont get anything from them except advice haughty and deaf ears.

REPLACED FOR A HIGHER FLUSH CAPACITY..
and it really works. replaced the oldest of three toilets in the house and the new watersense standards give a better flush with less water. what used to take 3-4 hot flashes is now gone in one. (water rates are expensive here, so I expect that will make a big difference.) I like the modern look of the hidden trap, which is always a pain to clean. (The main reason I got this model.) Professional plumbers complained and cursed for installing it, but...damn it. maybe they should be a little more careful, but they only had to do it once. and it's me who must like it.
